SUBJECT: RATE INCREASE FOR DISPENSING OF EYEGLASSES
____________________________________________________________________________
The Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS), in partnership with Early Intervention is pleased to announce an increase in its reimbursement rate to all providers who dispense eyeglasses.
HFS and Early Intervention have a long-standing and cost-effective program in place with the Illinois Department of Corrections, Illinois Correctional Industries (ICI), to manufacture eyeglasses. For eligible Early Intervention children, parents select frames from a display board provided by ICI to the optometric provider. Providers submit order forms for eyeglasses along with their claims for the optometric exam and dispensing fee to the Early Intervention Central Billing Office (CBO). The CBO generates the authorization and forwards the authorization and order form to ICI for fabrication of the eyeglasses. ICI then mails the eyeglasses directly to the optometric provider’s office for dispensing.
To encourage additional participation in the ICI program, HFS and Early Intervention are increasing the rate paid for dispensing eyeglasses. The Early Intervention dispensing fee, CPT code 92340, will be increased from $12.33 to $30.09. This rate increase is effective for dates of service on and after March 1, 2007. All other Early Intervention program policies and rates remain the same.
If you have questions about the new rate please contact the Early Intervention Central Billing Office Call Center at 800/634-8540. Thank you for your continued participation as a provider of services for the Early Intervention Services System.
